Using the experience of Toshiba TV in a home theater system
Jimmie D Mills
I ordered this TV from Amazon about three weeks ago and received it a week later. Although he was concerned about securely sending such a large object, which arrived in excellent condition. The packaging, with plastic foam inserts to hold the TV on all four corners, it was pretty impressive.
Tuning was very simple. I just had to find some points in the manual. The manual is readable even written in English!
The image quality of this TV is excellent.I saw a football game on television and was a completely different experience to see the same games on my old CRT TV.
I bought this TV for use in my home theater "system that I'm still putting together. Playing movies on my HTPC or Blu-ray movies really demonstrates the excellent image quality of this TV. As a side note, the remote control is easy and intuitive to use. That's not a great point, but a poor remote control can frustrate the user of a TV otherwise excellent. This remote works well enough that it adds no irritation to the overall experience.
It was when I connected the TV to the existing stereo receiver / amplifier that I've found an item on TV that is less than perfect. I had not noticed any deficiencies in the sound while watching broadcast television and even watch DVD movies on your TV. But once the stereo receiver / amplifier was connected and I could hear the sound through the set of top quality with Altec-Lansing speakers, the sound quality was much better. In short, if you want the home theater experience with this TV, you need to be complemented with a good amplifier and speakers. But I expected that going in. I'm not degrade the TV just because its audio performance, with its tiny speakers, not quite as far as I leave my 100 W amplifier and 15 speakers. "Heck, each of the speakers cost almost as much as the TV!
This TV is great for what it does - providing an excellent image. The fact that there is also a professional sound system is not relevant to its function. Moreover, if we have a home theater system, we will have the tuner / amplifier and speakers and for other purposes.
Connecting the TV's audio output to a separate amplifier can be a trap for the unwary. The sound of the TV out is via TosLink, which is an optical digital signal. I knew from the Amazon description and pictures of the input / output connections for television. I had already ordered a Toslink optical cable and optical / digital to analog audio converter and two RCA cables to connect to my amp. The total cost of the items was about $ 50. No big deal, but only a notice to any purchaser of this excellent TV that you really need the cables and the converter D / A, because the sound of your existing home theater or stereo amplifier and speakers will be necessary for the enjoyment complete this TV. If you have a modern amp with optical digital input, only the TosLink cable is necessary.
All things considered, I have no complaint, and I would buy this TV yourself. In fact, I'm thinking of buying one for my room!
Five Stars! Undoubtedly!
